  • Progressive side bets: Casino games like Caribbean Stud Poker commonly contain one of these. You generally lay a wager (a dollar is the usual amt.) to try to win a side jackpot that can be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Though big jackpots like these are particularly appealing, they’re also incredibly hard to win. You would have to hit a Royal Flush in order to win this wager. Also, picture this- you wager 20 hands and place the side bet each time. That’s twenty dollars you should have used towards the real game wager instead of a sucker wager. Picture what you might have been able to win at a bet with more favorable odds utilizing that $20.
  • Individual number wagers in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has only one. This takes the complete house edge from 2percent with one zero wheel to a whopping fivepercent in American. The individual number bet has only a one in thirty eight chance of winning, which are very long odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red bets instead which have a much smaller house advantage.
  • Keno: Any variation of Keno, and regardless of how you wager on it, the house advantage can be a whopping 25%. Yes, that was not a typo. Due to the large amount of numbers you must pick, it is not recommended to gamble on Keno to often. A few times for entertainment, perhaps. But don’t waste all your money on it or you’ll quickly find yourself bankrupt.
